1. General info

International Chess Festival LVIV CUP 2019 is dedicated to the celebration of Independence Day of Ukraine.
Lviv proudly holds the title of the cultural capital of Ukraine, but also it is a chess capital of the World.
The first International Chess Festival LVIV CUP was held two years ago during Women World Chess Championship Match in March 2016 in Lviv. Our city has 22 international GMs. Vassily Ivanchuk, world champion in rapid chess in 2017, Anna Muzychuk, women world champion in rapid chess and blitz in 2017, and her sister Mariya, are from Lviv. Five Lviv GMs in the national team of Ukraine won the silver and bronze medals in Chess Olympiad in 2016.
